Our trip to the Zuni & Laguna Pueblos in NM and the Hopi villages in AZ last week was phenomenal! We saw God move in miraculous ways every day. Here are a few highlights...

LAGUNA & ZUNI PUEBLOS - Through an invitation to the Laguna Pueblo in NM we were able to join the tribe in their July 4th celebration (on July 3). We provided several giant jumpers and slides as well as cotton candy & sno cones free of charge for everyone. We also provided a large Bingo event with great prizes provided by the generosity of our church members. The Laguna tribe was so gracious and the Governor (John Antonio Sr.) presented us with a beautiful pot filled with “goodies.” What an honor!

We also visited a few of our dear friends in the Pueblo of Zuni.

WINDOW ROCK - We paused for rest at the Window Rock Park, the location of the Code Talkers Memorial and the Tribal Headquarters for the Navajo Tribe.

HOPI - With donations through our "Adopt an Elder" Program we were able to bless many families in Zuni and in Hopi with gift certificates for food from the Kykotsmovi Store, managed by Tommy & Julie Canyon. This is a new program and we foresee it to be an avenue to assist many Hopi elders in basic provision for food. Please see our page at http://hopi.org/adopt-an-elder for more information.

On May 29, 2010 RestoringTouch became an official Non-Profit Corporation under the IRS 501(c)(3) status. All of our Native American Ministries (Hopi, Zuni and any future tribes), our involvement in Cambodia with orphans, etc. and Ethiopia are under this umbrella. This status enables us to be eligible for grants and all donations will be tax-deductible. Christian Life Center is currently our main donor and we have seen the Hand of God at work in the finances!

DUBAI & ETHIOPIA

Jane and I recently went to Dubai, United Arab Emirates & Ethiopia, Africa. We spent a restful 3 day vacation in Dubai and then traveled to Addis Ababa, the capitol city of Ethiopia. While in Dubai, Jane and I got off the "beaten tourist path" (as we always do) and our hearts were burdened for the people in the Muslim faith.

In Addis we met with the Foursquare Area Missionary for Eastern Africa and with the Foursquare Pastor, Abraham Ferede and his wife. We spoke in their Sunday evening service and had a GREAT time! We were so blessed to worship with them and to experience God's Presence in a very powerful way. We were able to give a gift of $1,000 to assist Pastor Abraham as he serves and leads the Foursquare Pastors in Ethiopia. Pray for this great church!

We then did a site evaluation of Victory Bible College for Transworld Accreditation Commission. The staff and students were so sincere in their dedication to God and the campus was truly a place dedicated to knowing God better! (I celebrated my 63rd birthday there and they really went all out :-)

HAITI EARTHQUAKE RELIEF

CNN stated "Haiti earthquake death toll remains anyone's guess as bodies are still lying in the streets. However, today Haitian Red Cross estimated up to 50,000 people could be dead and another three million hurt or displaced. CNN correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta Tweeted from the ground in Haiti today, saying he has never seen what he saw in Haiti.”

Specialized medical teams of doctors, nurses and paramedics from U.S. Foursquare churches will begin arriving in Haiti next week; other Foursquare churches across the country are preparing to send teams as quickly as trips can be coordinated. In addition, Foursquare missionaries Charlie and Darla Finocchiaro, who live in the Dominican Republic, are now in Haiti as well to assist Foursquare National Leaders Guy and Soeurette Thomas. Please pray for our Foursquare teams that are seeing the need and taking immediate action. If you or your church is interested in helping the devestation in Haiti, please contact David Wheeler in Foursquare Missions International (dwheeler@foursquare.org).

Christian Life Center will be sending financial help to Foursquare this week. And please pray for Haiti to rise out of the ruins quickly.

ZUNI, NAVAJO, HOPI WINTER TRIP

On ZUNI we had the opportunity to reconnect with our friends during a very important ceremony called Shalako. During the first week of December six families host and welcome the Shalakos (the giant couriers of the Rainmakers) and the Longhorns (Rain Gods of the North). Shalako brings the old year to a close and welcomes the new year, and asks for rain, the propagation of plants and animals, and the health and well being of its participants. It is also a reenactment of various important tribal myths.
Then at Shelley Chimoni’s house (Shelley is the Head Tribal Council Woman) I met the Governor of the Laguna Pueblo in New Mexico who gave us an open door for the future! :-)

On NAVAJO we spent time with Lyle & Christina Claw, and his parents. During that time we had the privilege of watching the last night of a special 9-day Navajo ceremony called Yeibichai. We were the guests of Lyle’s wife’s family. Lyle also shared with the Ignite team about ministry to Native American people. You can read about Lyle’s ministry online at www.clawinc.org.

On HOPI we visited and ministered God’s love to several families in the traditional villages including Old Oraibi, America’s longest continuously inhabited village (over 950 years!). Here we encountered extreme cold, snow and power outages. Access to the villages on top of the Mesas was “exciting!” Because of this the stores and gas stations were all closed. But none of this stopped our being a blessing wherever we went! (Genesis 12:2-3)

When we visited Anna in the village of Mishongnovi (Anna, left, is an amputee) we noticed she had been without power due to the power outage. As well, the temperatures at night were in single digits with strong winds. We were able to send $500 to purchase a small wood & coal burner!

We also took part in the Hopi Special Needs kids and families event held at the Hopi Cultural Center restaurant. The power outage prohibited it from being at the Veteran’s Memorial Center. Attending were the newly elected Tribal Chairman, Vice Chairman, a representative from the Governor’s Council on Disabilities and Miss Hopi. Pastor Jack spoke and did a magic show for the handicapped children.

Rev. Fred Horner Sunday, December 6

On Sunday, December 6 we are honored to have Rev. Fred Horner as our guest speaker. This is a man of great integrity who has been used in very special ways. He and his wife, Leah, have been Senior Pastors of Foursquare Churches continuously from 1963 through 1990. Fred served as Professor of Voice at LIFE Bible College from 1979 - 1982.

They were missionaries in Taiwan, Japan, Singapore (living there 3 years), Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, India and Nepal and lived and ministered throughout the Philippines for 6 years.

Fred serves as the Asia Literature Coordinator and conducts Children’s Gospel Box seminars in the Philippines and Vietnam. Over 12,000 decisions have been recorded through the Children’s Gospel Box rallies in the Philippines.

Travis Anderson Wednesday, December 9

On Wednesday, December 9 our guest speaker will be Travis Anderson, Dr. Steve Anderson’s son, who is married to our daughter, Andrea. Travis and Andrea have two children, Jeremiah and Jasmine, with a third child on the way. Travis is employed with Oakley Corporation in Orange as one of the web designers.

Travis and Andrea attend The Bridge, a Foursquare Church in Rancho Santa Margarita, pastored by Ryan Oddo and are the Children’s Ministry leaders.

BAK ROTEH ORPHAN HOME

Christian Life Center has been supporting the Bak Roteh orphan home and church in Cambodia for several years now. During this time we've seen the kids become healthy, strong believers in Jesus Christ. We're seeing God's purposes unfold for Cambodia right before our eyes! Thank you for your continued support!

70 YEARS OF FAITHFUL MINISTRY

Dr. Richard E. Anderson celebrated his 70th year of full time, faithful Pentecostal preaching ministry on Sunday, September 6, 2009 at Christian Life Center in Riverside, CA.

Countless lives have been touched by this General in the Kingdom of Jesus Christ which included pastoral ministry at Faith Tabernacle Church, School of Bible Theology Seminary & University, the fellowship of churches he leads as the Pentecostal Assemblies of God of America and Transworld Accrediting Commission International.

Dr. Anderson preached right where he started on Labor Day Sunday, 1939, in the Arlington Foursquare Mission Foursquare, with Sister Johnson, which later became the Arlington Foursquare Church (Christian Life Center).

That first sermon, approximately 17 minutes long, was taken from John 9:7 “And Jesus said unto him, ‘Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.’” The sermon had three points: He Went, He Washed, He Came Seeing. After that sermon a man who was blind, crawled to the front, was prayed for, and left the service seeing and healed! And many were saved as well!

Congratulations Dr. Anderson! We pray many more years of service to the King.

FAMILY FUN NIGHT '09 ON HOPI

A very special THANK YOU to everyone who participated by giving and going to Hopi, a very trditional Native American tribe. The team included people from Riverside, CA; Lyle Claw from Phoenix, Bry & Rachel Claw from Sedona, Stephen Almquist from Flagstaff, and John Parra & family, all from Arizona; the Craig family from Gallup, NM and all the Hopi friends who also gave a hand. It was a great success and we saw about 3,000 people attend the Family Fun Night (The Hopi officials said that with everyone not able to come in, etc. there were between 3,000 and 4,000 people!). We also connected with many of our Hopi friends, and blessed the village of Shongopavi with a fun, impromptu event for the kids.

"Changing Lives Around the World"

Lyle Claw, a Navajo Christian from Window Rock, AZ, whom I've know for many years, recently asked me to be a member of the board on his organization, "Changing Lives Around the World" (CLAW, Inc.). Lyle's ministry was previously called "Life After Death Epics" (Life after meth). Below is a portion from his site...

"Life After Death Epics is a contact point for Meth Prevention based on founder, Lyle Claw's life after death experience with Meth. It is dedicated to educating individuals and communities with the raw truths of substance abuse. After dying (and being resuscitated) from a Meth overdose, Lyle knows first hand of the threats this drug and others posses and the truth of what he saw during his death. 'This drug has the ability to wipe out a generation of our children and is changing them into zombies, this needs to be stopped and the full truth exposed!'"

Lyle and his brother, Bry, minister not only on reservations in the continental U.S. but in Alaska as well. In Alaska, their trips have taken them from Anchorage to Barrow and the other North Shore villages above the Arctic Circle.

CAMBODIA MISSIONS 2008

Cuenca, Ecuador

Call To The Nations (Michael & Jennifer England) is a ministry dedicated to reaching the unreached people groups of the world. Currently we are based in Riverside, CA but we are in the process of preparing to move to the city of Cuenca in Ecuador. Cuenca is located in the Andes Mountains about 200 miles south of the capital city of Quito. It is approximately 8,300 feet above sea level and is the third largest city in Ecuador with a population of about 400,000.

We are currently raising money to obtain a resident visa which will allow us to stay permanently as well as the monthly support needed to live. We are in the process of becoming Foursquare Missionaries through Foursquare Missions International (FMI). There are a few steps we need to take to complete our missionary training before we can become officially appointed. Being Missionaries with FMI will help us connect with Foursquare Ecuador and make our transition to Ecuador more smooth. FMI will also help us stay connected with the US church and provide a greater spiritual covering and more prayer support.

Once we finished all of the necessary steps and moved to Ecuador, we plan to start a church under the covering of Foursquare Ecuador as we continue to pursue our vision of raising up pastors and sending them out to start churches and reach the numerous unreached people groups in South America. Hopi Summer Trip '08

A very special thanks to our team (photo) , including Bianca from New Jersey, Steve Almquist from Flagstaff and Lyle Claw from Window Rock.

Activities included an event in the village of Hotevilla on Third Mesa, work on Janet & Maya's traditional Hopi rock house and a 4th of July event with the village of Polacca on First Mesa with Ivan Sidney (former Hopi Chairman) and his band, the Hopi Clansmen.

The men of CLC are planning a trip back to Hopi in October to continue working on Maya's house. We'll give more details later.

Rice Mill in Cambodia

After visiting Cambodia for the first time few years ago, Jane and I felt the need to assist Ted & Sou and the Orphan Ministry in Cambodia with the purchase of land and a rice mill. Because of the generous giving of members of our church, Christian Life Center in Riverside, CA, that dream has now become reality and daily feeds rice to thousands of orphans. To God be the Glory!

Cambodia Missions Team

A team from Christian Life Center and Lake Elsinore Foursquare went to Cambodia Saturday, September 8 through Friday, September 21.

The team members were Joe Uribe, Mike Weaver, Dr. Rod & Paula Soholt, Juanita Ayala, Jason Brannon, Andrew Ferguson, Josh Martin, Jordan Garcia and Jessica Hundley. Although they did encounter some sickness, they were an incredible blessing to several orphan homes.

Foursquare Children of Promise in Cambodia, A Report From Ted Olbrich

"Christian Life Center, the Riverside CA Foursquare Church, which was instrumental in building our rice mill, and provides for the sponsorship of the Bak Roteh home in Pursat Province, as well as partial support for other homes and school uniforms, came on a good-will tour with members from Lake Elsinore Foursquare Church, CA, which sponsors the Bar Kan home in Pursat Province. They left a string of homes blessed with new uniforms, and numerous improvement projects, including a new fence at Prek Bey."

Hopi Summer Trip '07

We took a 25-member team to the Hopi Reservation (Arizona) and Zuni Pueblo (New Mexico) July 1 - 7. This was definitely the largest group we've taken from Riverside, CA and one of the most challenging & exciting trips ever :-)

HOPI - Our time on Hopi went by too fast. We did a small work project in Kykotsmovi that consisted of putting a new roof onto a building belonging to one of our friends, Lucinda Guss. Our men worked on that roof in 100+ degree weather! The rest of us visited our many friends.

ZUNI - In Zuni Pueblo we took part in the 9th Annual Zuni Youth Conference, sponsored by the Zuni Tribe, which culminated with our "Family Fun Night" event. The sessions we were responsible for were Gang Awareness and Anger Management. Over 100 kids attended the Conference. Members of our team assited the Shesche/Kucate family family in painting and repairing their Kiva, the place for all religious activities, the construction of a bread oven, an important item in the life of Zuni women.

We went home excited and are looking forward to going back next time. Again, thanks to everyone who provided, prayed and participated by going. We can't do this without faithful people like YOU!

Ministry in Bali, Indonesia

Indonesia is the world’s largest Muslim nation and stretches between Southeast Asia and Australia. Bali, an island located off the eastern coast of Java, is approximately 97% Hindu mixed with animistic religion.

Mercy Indonesia (MI) is a multi-faceted ministry based in Bali, Indonesia and headed by Paulus & Marliesye Wiratno. MI is associated with Warm Blankets Orphan Care International, the same ministry Foursquare is in partnership with in Cambodia. The major aspects of MI are: the Church/Headquarters in Bali; the 16 Bible schools that train Pastors to start churches throughout Indonesia; the orphanages; and the radio stations that reach all of Indonesia, parts of Southeast Asia and Australia.

Jane and I ministered in the headquarter church in Denpasar, the capital city in the south, and then to one of the satellite churches with people from Sumba. During both services everyone was overwhelmed with God’s Power as Jane and I prayed! Several were delivered and healed!

We had the privilege of visiting the orphan homes in Denpasar and Singaraja on the northern coast and then minister to the Bible College. Again, as we prayed everyone was touched with the Presence of God!

MI operates several radio stations throughout Indonesia. For Pastor Paulus’ program I recorded a four-part series on our personal struggle with the murder of our daughter, Liz and Jane did a two-part series on her own testimony. That evening I shared from the Bible on live radio. The programs air throughout Indonesia, parts of Southeast Asia and Australia and are then sent to an Australian shortwave radio station to be beamed to various locations around the world.

We also gave $1,000 to purchase 250 portable radios given to church planters in remote areas. As they gather people, they listen to the programs, lead them to Christ and begin a new church!
